Welcome to the sixth edition of the communique for the Hamilton, Ontario Diocese Cursillo community.
Charlie Siefried and his team start meeting on September 8th to prepare for the October 11th to 14th Men's weekend. Please pray for Charlie and his team as they prepare for the weekend. Pray too for candidates - as of this moment we have four candidates. I'm sure the Lord has a man you know in mind for this weekend. Please do your part by praying to God about the man and speaking to the man about God. Application forms are available here
If you have not yet registered for this opportunity of enrichment, there is still a place for you! Sessions will take place monthly, from October to May and will entail a program of shared learning about topics related to the Cursillo movement and our ongoing faith journey.
If you have to miss a session or two, that’s OK, as this is not like a course which has a beginning and end … and feel rest assured there are no tests or projects to complete, only your own personal growth and depth of knowledge of the Cursillo movement. We will meet rather as a “School of Fish”, coming together in friendship, love and learning.
The first session will be held Saturday September 15th, 10 am to 12 noon at St. Joseph’s Church hall, 409 Paisley Road, Guelph. For more information and registration contact Marg Weber @519-747-5937 or marg.weber@sympatico.ca
Each month a member of the Secretariat will share his or her thoughts on their Secretariat role. For the complete list of Secretariat members and their roles click here.
This month's sharing is from me, David Milne:
Hi, I have two roles on Secretariat - Secretary and Communications. As Secretary I take minutes of our monthly Secretariat meetings and publish them for the members of Secretariat. As Communications director my main responsibilities are the publication of this Communique and maintenance of our website (www.4thday.ca).
I am always eager to hear your feedback about the communique and the website. Please don't hesitate to let me know how I am doing . I can be reached at drmilne@sympatico.ca
I made my Cursillo in 1989 and sat at St. Thomas's table. Cursillo has meant a lot to me and I am happy to be called to serve the movement in any way. Being on Secretariat is a new experience for me. I have been on Secretariat for almost a year now and I'm still learning many things. One of the challenges of being on Secretariat is to understand and preserve the fundamental ideas of the Cursillo Movement. That means I have to study the movement and the recent world wide initiatives to return to the original charism of the movement. Heavy stuff but, with the help of Christ, the rest of Secretariat and the upcoming School of Leaders, I'll get there.
There is no witness this month.
Please send me (drmilne@sympatico.ca) any talks you think should be published so we can publish a witness talk every month. Please realize that I will have to use my judgment on whether or not a talk is published so it's possible that not every talk will get published.
This past month has been an unusual one for me. I've had to deal with a number of unusual situations at home, at work and at church. At times I have gotten quite down about what's going on. Then I remember one of my favourite Taize songs; "In the Lord I'll be ever thankful. In the Lord I will rejoice. Trust in God, do not be afraid.. Lift up your voices the Lord is here. Lift up your voices the Lord is near." May the Lord always be near to you in good times and in not so good times.
