What do you call a number of fish swimming in the same direction? ….Its a school.
What do you call a number of Cursillistas who strive or desire to keep the Cursillo movement alive and growing in the right direction? …..Its a School of Leaders .
The School of Leaders is a group of Cursillistas who want to be more committed and more united in order to accelerate the living of what is fundamental for being a Christian. This on-going unity is brought about in a climate of a Group Reunion. These Cursillistas seek a continual improvement in themselves, in the Cursillo Movement and in the environments in which they find themselves.
The first session of the School of Leaders was held on September 15th at Holy Rosary Church hall in Guelph. 30 Cursillistas came together from across the Diocese. The topic for the first session was “Ideals and Expectations” from Father Frank Salmani’s book “Whom Shall I Send”. The comments and feed back from this initial session was very positive and encouraging. Although it went a little overtime, we will be sensitive to this in the future. We encountered a few hurdles because we had to move the venue at the last minute because of a funeral at St. Joseph’s church . We are grateful to have been able to use Holy Rosary Church. We want to thank the team for their time and efforts in getting this off and “swimming”.
The next session will be held Saturday October 20th from 10 to 12 noon at St. Joseph’s Church 409 Paisley Street, Guelph. Please feel free to join us at any of the sessions. For information please contact Marg Weber 519-747-5937 or marg.weber@sympatico.ca
Each month a member of the Secretariat will share his or her thoughts on their Secretariat role. For the complete list of Secretariat members and their roles click here.
This month we depart from having a member of the Secretariat talk about their role on Secretariat. Instead we have two pieces of Secretariat news.
First of all - a great big
to Millie Schlupp for volunteering her place to store our weekend supplies. Millie is from St. Anthony Daniel's Ultreya and Joyce Hause, our Weekend Co-ordinator, is very grateful to Millie and very relieved to get a lot of weekend stuff out of her house. Once again, thank you Millie.
Second of all - a great big
. The Secretariat is in need of funds to support the weekend. Please have a look at this letter which describes the need for funds and what we want to do with them. The letter will be distributed at the Men's closing and we ask that each Ultreya leader read the letter at their Ultreya's so that more Cursillistas are reached. Thank you for your generosity.
There is no witness talk this month.
Please send me (drmilne@sympatico.ca) any talks you think should be published so we can publish a witness talk every month. Please realize that I will have to use my judgment on whether or not a talk is published so it's possible that not every talk will get published.
September was definitely a better month than August although it did have its challenges. One of the good things that happened in September was the Cursillo Enrichment - School of Leaders. Marg has pulled together a great team that's doing a great job. I plan to be at the next meeting on October 20th. Hope to see you there.
