Weekend Report – October & November 2008.
Dear Cursillistas
After a busy two months we are now able to announce that we have a total of 23 new Cursillistas in our diocese.
We thank God for the many blessing he has given us during these weekends and we now ask that all the sponsors and team continue to do their work in assisting the candidates during their fourth day. This also means that the veteran Cursillistas and all Ultreya’s continue to show our love and support.
We are moving forward and we will hold two weekends in the fall of 2009 and both will be held in Deemerton.
We thank everyone for your palanca, prayers, financial support and your assistance in making these weekends successful.
As all of you must know it is never easy to balance out our income with our expenses but we continue to place our trust in the Holy Spirit and ask for his guidance along the way.
Take care – Joyce Hause -
The next session of the CESOL will be held at St. Joseph's Church, in Guelph on Saturday, December 20th from 10 to 12 noon. We will continue our study of the Frequently Asked Questions booklet. Everyone is welcome to come and learn more about the depth of the Cursillo Movement. Meet fellow Cursillistas from across the Diocese in a spirit of love and friendship in ongoing shared learning. You do not need to pre-register or have attended a previous session. You are always welcome. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.
Joyce Hause and Marg Weber's terms on Secretariat will come to an end in the Spring of 2009. That's just a few months away. Before Joyce and Marg leave Secretariat we need to identify people who are interested in serving on Secretariat and then discern who the two new Secretariat members will be. If you would like your name to be considered please contact any member of Secretariat.
The Fergus Ultreya is hosting our Advent Retreat this year on December 13th.
The retreat format is as follows:
Hope to see you there.
WE NEED HELP!!!
The Hamilton Diocese Cursillo Movement is hosting the 2009 Canadian Conference on July 2 – 5, 2009 at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo. We need help with many different committees.
A meeting will be held for approximately one hour, not longer, following the Advent Retreat at St. Joseph’s Parish on St. George St. in Fergus on Saturday, Dec. 13th at 2:00 p.m.
We would like you to meet the chair of each committee and get a better understanding of the job descriptions.
The committees are:
Liturgy – David Milne and Marg Weber
Registration – Joyce Hause
Finances – Rodney Bell
Transportation – Sharon Penlington
Hospitality -
Palanca –
Music –
Advertising –
Entertainment -
Sound Manager –
Go-fer –
Co-Chairs – Walt Sowinski and Sandi Farwell
The registration is capped at 120 people as the Canadian Officers will present the Cursillo of Cursillos as was presented in Mallorca in 2007. So, once the registration forms are out, please register early to be guaranteed your place at the conference.
I will attempt to give you a brief description of each committee. Then we need from you:

They work with the Spiritual advisors re liturgies, prayer oasis etc. They provide music books and song sheets if necessary. They must understand the role of enhancing the flow of the conference and be flexible enough to adapt when necessary.

Please send me (drmilne@sympatico.ca) any talks you think should be published so we can publish a witness talk every month. Please realize that I will have to use my judgment on whether or not a talk is published so it's possible that not every talk will get published.
Advent is upon us. Most of us have Christmas traditions and New Year's traditions. What about Advent traditions? Do you do anything special to celebrate Advent? Perhaps you have an Advent calendar or an Advent wreath and candles. Advent is a special time of preparation and I find it very helpful to have Advent traditions to help me prepare for the coming of Christ. May you have a blessed Advent and may it prepare you well for Christmas. Remember, Jesus is the reason for the season.
De Colores,
David
